Clinical Nursing Instructor
POSITION
Blue Cliff College is seeking a Practical Nursing Clinical Instructor. The clinical instructor’s primary responsibility is to instruct clinical according to an approved course syllabus using accepted and effective teaching methods. Clinical faculty will oversee all activities of patient care and ensure optimal level of care in clinical settings, participate in various education programs, and ensure compliance with all lesson/care plans. Faculty are also expected to remain current in their teaching field by participating in faculty meetings, instructional seminars, and in-service training sessions. Instructors may also be asked to participate in school activities such as advisory board meetings and graduation.
JOB DUTIES
- Deliver curriculum as intended by the catalog and approved syllabi on schedule, meeting all stated objectives and timelines.
- Ensure that the course meets the required number of contact hours as published in the catalog.
- Conduct clinicals using organized and interesting methods which, whenever possible, mimic a work environment and facilitate student motivation.
- Begin and end all clinical sessions on time.
- Relate class content to clinical experiences.
- Complete and turn in all end-of-quarter grades and evaluations upon the completion of the course.
- Implement and adhere to all schools' policies and regulations.
- Monitor and record daily clinical attendance.
- Develop and administer teaching plan based upon stated course objectives.
- Evaluate student competency in all skills related to each course.
- Develop student skill sets in a manner to prepares students to provide safe and effective patient care within the identified scope of practice.
- Abide by all preceptorship requirements (if applicable).
- Provide tutoring and informal advising to students as needed.
- Advise the academic administrator on student attendance/academic issues.
- Attend faculty meetings, in-service training sessions, and instructional meetings as required.
- Serve as a professional role model for students, and other duties as may be assigned.
- Implement patient care according to state laws and institutional protocol.
- Demonstrate effective clinical skills according to evidence-based practices.
- Evaluate the quality of the learning experiences provided by the facility on a regular basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
MENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Professional appearance, warm demeanor, and positive attitude.
- Motivated self-starter.
- Ability to work independently and to be accurate, efficient, and organized.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to or above 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Function without the influence of prescribed or un-prescribed drugs.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Hold a minimum of an associate degree in nursing.
- Have three (3) years of clinical experience working as a registered nurse.
- Have intermediate computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Hold a current AHA CPR certification as well as maintain immunization records for TB, flu, and COVID.
- Hold an unencumbered and current state license.
