The Director of Education provides effective academic leadership and oversight of campus academic operations, classroom instruction, student outcomes assessment, faculty training and professional development, and student services. The Director of Education is responsible for the overall success of the campus Education department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 
  •   Provides leadership and management oversight to the Education department.
  • Delivers quality education by appropriately managing academic resources.
  • Recruits, hires, trains and supervises all campus faculty, lead instructors and program managers.
  • Ensures proper instructor through continuous assessment, observation, development and review of faculty.
  • Delivers quality student services that promote academic success by overseeing academic advising, and managing academic support services, such as tutoring.  
  • Provides life-issue student advising and references.
  • Ensures utilization of approved resources, including syllabi, textbooks, electronic resources and equipment.
  • Assists in the review, updating and implementation of curriculum. 
  • Manages the campus retention program and analyzes key performance indicators within the Education department to achieve established outcomes and retention goals.  
  • Oversees faculty and education staff training, continuing education requirements and professional development programs.  
  • In cooperation with the campus leadership team, creates academic goals and objectives for the campus assessment and evaluation plans and directs Education department staff in the achievement of these goals and objectives.
  • Ensures the Education department’s compliance with policies and procedures, ethical practices, government agencies’ guidelines and accrediting organizations’ criteria.  
  • Stays abreast of changes in law, regulations and policies and procedures.  
  • Provides proper and timely documentation to support regulatory compliance and provides training, guidance and direction to ensure understanding and compliance within department staff.
  • Resolves faculty, staff and student concerns in a timely and fair manner and maintains accurate documentation of issues and resolutions.
  • Aids in creation of the campus advisory boards and assists in scheduling appropriate and required meetings.  
  • Promotes faculty and staff affiliations with professional and community organizations.
  • Promotes student enrollment growth by developing and implementing retention strategies and initiatives, overseeing the campus re-entry program, attending campus events, and by being involved in community and professional organizations and events.
  • Apprises the Campus Director of issues and status of initiatives, trends and opportunities on a timely basis.
  • Manages the Education department financial budget, which includes (but is not limited to) equipment, textbook and supply costs, and payroll.   
  • Assists in preparing campus for regulatory and accreditation visits and in responding to related communication.
  • Compiles weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual academic reports.
  • Supervises Librarian.
  • Supervises Registrar.
  • Other job duties as assigned. 
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 
  •  Bachelors degree required from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education.
  • At least 5 years relevant experience, two of those years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Teaching experience required. 
  • Experience in organizing and writing reports and presentations.
  • Able to interact with all levels of management, employees and students.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as planning, organizing and delegation skills.
  • Efficiently utilize a personal computer and related software including Microsoft Office, course management system software, and internet proficiencies.
